Did I say that happened yesterday? It happend when I first came to Chicago. Of course I did not know that Chicago has such a barbarian way of posting street cleaning signs as stampling paper signs to living trees. Can't the city afford a solid aluminum sign on a post?

We use the funds allocated to buy metal poles instead to buy aluminum baseball bats so when we run across a knucklehead like you we have a "solid" way to deal with the situation.

The city is trying to rip me off with a $120 bill for an unregistered vehicle. I got two tickets and sent a mail complaint of proof that they should be dismissed; in my letter was a scan / proof of a Uhaul receipt showing I just moved from Houston to Chicago! Despite that they say I'm guilty and have to cough up $120! So I'm gonna go to court to contest this!

But then he takes the license plates off from these cars from various cities. 99 Civic HX - main high mpg daily driver, has officially registered Texas plates to me
99 Grand Caravan Sport - cargo hauler / moving van - official plates to me in IL
93 Mazda MX6 LS V6 - my toy sports car, unnecessary, - might put the fake plates on this, keep uninsured and parked on the street. Right now it has official IL plates and stickers, but they're outdated.

It'd be a problem -
if stopped driving by a cop with bad plates - what'll happen?
if they tow the car to a pund with bad unmatching plates - what'll happen?

Are there Chicago or IL laws against using license plates not registered to you or your car?

A couple Fridays ago I pulled into a parking spot on the street according to my Verizon Wireless Phone at exactly 6:30pm. I continued to walk down the block to meet some friends and looked back and my car was fine. The next day I go back to get my car and IT'S GONE!! I figured out that it had been towed and I called to ask why. They told me they had towed me at 6:28pm!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!! This is completely shady because I know this was not true.. $240 later I got my car back. Needless to say I have purchased a parking spot since then so I don't have to deal with shady Chicago parking!

My question is: Has anyone else witnessed an unfair tow or ticket like this? Is there anything you can do about it or is it just their word against yours?

Exact same thing happened to me when visiting chicago on business. I was ticketed rather than towed. Complete bullsh...

You are lucky. If you car was towed you would likely have some items stolen from your car as well.... Happens all the time.

And I never pay those stupid parking meters.

They're all busted anyway.
