CM,
It is fair to weary of Rogers Park. That said, dont go by that blog. Dude is kind of a nut. An entertaining nut, but a nut nonetheless.

Thanks skipcromer. Good to know!
Avengerfire, the area just west of Rosehill, Budlong Woods, is that area safe? Is it still sketchy around the old motels on Lincoln Ave.?

It is ok. I lived there for a couple of years.
There is a large police station on Lincoln just south of Catalpa.
Many of the motels in the direct area are gone, but a few still remain south of Bryn Mawr.

Thanks! Seems like Irving Park/Old Irving is the way to go, so far. I just need a better idea about the area. I can't seem to find that much detailed info. There aren't too many rental listings either.
Does anyone know anything abot these specific addresses in Irving Park?
1. Irving Park at Drake
2. Irving Park at Elston
3. Irving Park & Milwaukee
4. Kenneth at Milwaukee
5. Addison at Kedzie
6. Addison & Keeler
THANKS!

I am pretty sure that the Milwaukee and Irving Park intersection is in Portage Park not Irving Park.

Addison and Kedzie/Elston is really commercial, and so is Irving/Milwaukee/Cicero.... Addison and Keeler is more residential. All I know is I go past these intersections on a regular basis.

I would personally have no problem with living around any of these areas in terms of safety, even with a new baby. Not the greatest in terms of nightlife and what not, but the neighborhood as a whole is very solid.

You're right..Milwaukee/Irving Park/Cicero aka "6 Corners" is Portage Park. Great family oriented neighborhood with grocery, banks, health club, Walgreens Pharmacy and more shopping all within walking distance from that corner. Blocks from I94 & I90..about three miles (quick bus ride) to the Blue Line & Metra. Convenient location I'd say.

Yeah, I like that neighborhood too. It is pretty quaint without losing any commercial attraction. I saw a show a couple months ago at the Portage Theater too and that place is beautiful inside. I'd love to go back for a silent movie with organ accompaniment sometime.
