That area is in the Albany Park "community area" right next to the Lincoln Square "community area."
However:
The neighborhood north of the Lawrence and east of the river, but west of Western is part of Ravenswood.
The neighborhood south of Lawrence, but east of the river and west of Western is part of Ravenswood until you get to Eastwood. Between Eastwood and Montrose it is Ravenswood Gardens.
It is ok over there. Blago lives around there.
I would certainly have no problem living there.
Just do not go west of Kedzie when looking for a place...

Thanks again!

1)4425 N. Whipple is in the neighborhood of Albany Park. Just near the border with Ravenswood Manor.
2)North of Irving Park Rd and west of the edge of Horner Park (California Ave) is part of the Albany Park neighborhood. It is one of the best sections of Albany Park however. IMO I would move there as long as I was not west of Kedzie.

Great to know, Avengerfire! I'm crossing it off of my list . I've also crossed Rogers Park and Albany Park off of my list. I'm still looking in Old/Irving Park and around Lincoln Square/Ravenswood (the area around the Rockwell L stop seems nice). I hope I find something.

Oops, I read your post incorrectly, Avengerfire. I'll keep Whipple on my list.

Albany Park
I'm currently moving from a rented condo because of a section 8 neighbor on George St (sort of Roscoe-villagish) to the burbs. But have lived in Albany Park and it was not that bad. Diverse neighborhood, and like many Chicago locations 1 block is great, the next urban blight. If you're gonna live without a vehicle I suggest anywhere within walking distance to brown line CTA or blue line, and with a kid, definitely plan on moving before preschool.

suil71: Thanks for the tips! Where ijn the 'burbs are you moving to?
Avengerfire: Thank you so much for the apt. listings! They all look great, except I'm not crazy about the Avondale location (I've heard bad things about Avondale), though the apt. there looks nice. Thanks again! I'll check them out.

I really like the one in Edison Park, and the one on Clark & Orchard...THANKS! I don't know anything about Edison Park, though.
