What, they got rid of my favorite station (well the format) but really, come on. Are there any other smooth jazz stations in the area?

This is devastating- I know plenty of people who are pissed because of this. Jazz or not this is the only station that played it 24-7

I find it odd that rock and roll was originally a form of pop music intended for teenagers, now people try to tell teenagers that what they consider rock and roll isn't. I was talkin' once to a jasper who said Elvis wasn't rock music. !?!

I think some people confuse what they like socially with what happens musically; they're considering the source rather than the product.
When I was drummer in a punk band in 1977 I suggested we play "Yummy-Yummy" REAL loud with an emphasis on the beat and give it some power-drive, it worked too. But it was the underlying nature of the song that allowed it.

I respect what you're typing, and understand your point, but come on...

I must say as a musician (and as a rocker) in no way shape or form do I consider the Jonas Brothers to be Rock N' Roll.

Sorry Tom...

WNUA was just another easy listening station, the kind that's on in offices, but no one really listens to it. Mind pablum.

My dad loved the station, it basically was what he listened to while sleeping at night. He actually called me and sounded kinda disdained about it. Sucks, for real. I enjoy jazz myself, and that was just something you listen to if you want to just calm your nerves or something. Chicago doesn't have a decent indie hip-hop station, my other alternative, so now it doubly sucks.

I know people say the station was not jazz but it was. Just a different genre. There are lots of jazz genre's. I like almost all jazz. From smooth to traditional.

Chicago is not a good city for jazz. Even though it's a blues town, it's not that good for that either.

XRT has a good jazz fusion show on Sunday nights and WYSO has a good program as well.

My next city MUST be a jazz town like New Orleans.....

doublenickels is on a distinguished road
It was a dull and uninteresting program format. The format was probably not making money. Nothing can can be done about this "Spanish thing". U.S. in decline.

Congrats to the spanish listeners but farewell to all of the WNUA listeners.

Another smoothjazz station bites the dust.

So long Ramesy and Karen......thanks for the good music early in the morning.

That format is being dropped across the country. You're correct, since advertisers have changed the way they look at how they spend their advert dollars with radio stations, it has caused the smooth jazz format to lag far behind in revenue generation.

That's just business, nothing personal.

Are you saying "the spanish thing"(whatever that means) is causing a U.S decline? I hope not.

That would be very narrow minded. I'm not of spanish decent but I have no tolerence for ignorant remarks like that......

Correct me if I am wrong
