People who don't want to work should be put in gulag, in Montana perhaps.

People must be made to feel shame.

That is poverty. These so called poverty people have cars, apartments and new cloths. How?? Really easy my money and every other working person in chicago and illinois is paying for them to have those items. And on top of it all, they are not even working or trying to find job. Take advantage of this flawed system. I wonder why this city and state is bankrupt.

Also last fall, someone was shot and killed sitting in traffic at 86th and Pulaski when they were caught in between gang crossfire.

There have been multiple shooting incidents in Ashburn, West Lawn, Archer Heights and Garfield Ridge over the past year.

So, what can we take away from this.

1. Not being involved in gang or drug activity does NOT make you impervious to bullets.

2. Five years ago, none of these neighborhoods or suburbs had gang shootings. Now they do, some on a fairly regular basis. Even when it happens very sporadically, I still find it a cause for some concern since it never used to happen before. These things tend to get worse instead of better. In the 80's you could visit S. Western Ave. By the 90's, it was no longer safe. Up until the 90's, you could visit the neighborhoods along Kedzie. It is no longer safe, there are shootings very frequently in Chicago Lawn/Marquette Park and Gage Park. Now there are incidents in the neighborhoods along Pulaski and the inner suburbs. This is not a good trend.
I am getting sooo fed up about reading these posts about how decent areas going into decline especially within recent years. These filthy shooters need to be caught, tried , convicted and given the electric chair( not lethal injection) and none of this garbage about 10-15 years of appeals. I don't care for the death penalty but crime is getting out of hand and the bad thing about that it is spreading into the blue collar Joe neighborhoods. With this economy and soaring gas prices, blue collar Joe cannot simply afford to "pull their suitcases out of the closet" pack up and move to a car oriented suburb or exurb. I feel decent blue collar Joe has a voice that is not heard and if it was being heard , these types of posts would be much less. Enough with these dirty disgusting criminal scumballs getting away with murder and other violent crime!

Certain employers specifically "employ" those types because they can get away with paying less than minimum wage, since the illegal cannot really complain about it.

Before my husband finally found an actual job after 5 months of looking, he spent a brief month at a certain... bakery, washing dishes. $7 an hour, in cash, all undocumented. Mind you, this is a suburban Ohio raised, 23 year old, college educated man. His coworker spoke no English, was paid the same way, and had to train my husband via pointing and motions due to the language barrier (at the guy's defense, he was a really nice person; they just couldn't really communicate and had to rely on my husband's vague recollection of high school Spanish).

That job came 2-3 months after starting to look. It ended when a friend of an employee "quit his job" at... something decently lucrative (so, he was likely fired), and wanted the job that my husband had. So just like that, at the end of a shift, my husband was told it was his last day. Granted, that income covered our rent for the one month he had it, so it was worth it regardless.

It's not that certain people think they're above things (don't get me wrong; many people do), but it's more like certain jobs will not accept the people who want them: legal citizens, many college educated, who want to be paid at least minimum wage. My husband didn't get the jobs he applied for at Target and McDonalds because, having gone to college and worked since about age 12, he was TOO qualified. And yet, they hire high school students, adults who have no high school education, people who have less than decent work ethics, etc.
