Default Another tax increase

I swear to god this is unbelievable. Are these stupid corrupt democrats really this incompetent. THEY ARE DRIVING PEOPLE OUT OF THIS STATE BECAUSE OF THEIR TAXING!! Notice it says not one single republican voted for this 67 percent increase in the income tax. Lets give more of the hard earned money I MADE to these f#cken a$$holes. These jerks who gave away money like candy and now realize they have no money so lets continue taking it from working people. I need to get the f#ck out of this state and move to texas. But of couse like millions of people in this state they cant because of their job and they people to support. Good job everyone who votes democrat everytime. You made this state and the city of chicago the way it is. But they did approve a casino in chicago. Great job!!!

I am not surprised by this at all. Saw it coming 8-9 years ago and got the f# out while the getting was good. I will never return either. Just remember that it is much the same almost anywhere you go so do lots of research before you leave.

All states are being hammered by this recession resulting in falling tax revenue and rising expenses. South Carolina has one of the highest unemployment rates and the governor is trying to refuse Federal stimulus money. That means either increased tax rates (or more likely) massive cuts in services.

Yes, you are right and he is taking a lot of flak for it too. But, in all fairness, my property taxes are not as high as yours are. I have a nicer, newer house here and pay 1/3 property tax vs my old home in Bridgeview. And for the record...our county UE rate is under 10% not the almost 13% that the state reports and those reports are based on out-of-season figures too. Beach weather is here and that will lower the numbers somewhat.

It's tough all over the country; very few places are immune to it but at least I am not paying 10% sales tax on everything I buy and that means more money in my pocket!

The taxes need raising.

I lived for three years in Lexington KY, a low tax place, and believe me I'd rather pay the taxes and live in Chicago.

Note too that low tax states are generally low income states; the same Republicans who work to keep taxes low work even harder to keep wages low.

Anyone who wants to live in Texas is welcome to it.

No you're not paying 10% sales tax, but you (or at least any South Carolinian earning more than 13k) are paying 7% state income tax.

After they get done with all of the tax increases people who think like you will be the only ones left. I hope you enjoy paying the high taxes. I also left and will never return due to the high taxes.

adamtrip is on a distinguished road
We just moved here last year ago, and yes the taxes are crazy. And it's hard to see where the money goes to - the roads are terrible, the schools need more funding, etc. But, we love it here. The parks are beautiful, there are beaches, great restaurants and shopping, and always something to do, many things for free. I would gladly pay a little more to live here than have more money in my pocket with nothing to spend it on.

I don't enjoy them but I'm willing to pay them. And I enjoy living in Chicago so I'll pay the price. If you're too cheap or not enterprising enough to make it here then I reckon you'd better stay away. Vaya con Dios.
