Okay, this may be a dumb question, but I've never done it before, so here goes: If you sublet an apartment/studio from someone, is there usually someone who does a credit and proof of income check, or is this just up to the tenant to decide? I have no problems with credit and income, but since I am a teacher moving in the summertime from out of state, I won't have proof of employment for at least a month (or at least not the day I get there). Here in CA (and I'm guessing everywhere else) most apartment managers or companies require that you have proof that you make at least 3x the rent per month...but if someone could tell me how subletting is normally done, that would be great! Thanks.
