Default Harry Potter Exhibit,Museum of S & I

We attended today and we were all very impressed. It was a birthday gift to our son and we felt it was worth the money for true Potter fans(about 25$ per).
Several movie sets, loads of actual props, furniture, costumes, creatures all on display in their cinema setting. They were housed in a large tent adjacent to the museum and the purchase price included museum entrance for the day.We spent a good hour and a half in there, then visited other museum exhibits for the rest of the day. We entered at the exact time on our tickets and this on a Sunday. Audio aids are available for info from the vaious production teams.

Are you from out of town? You know, with a library card you can check out up to 4 museum passes for free.

We checked out the Museum of S & I pass from the library and headed down to see the Harry Potter exhibit. Even with the pass, they still wanted something like $17 a head! So we passed on that.

Jeez, I can see charging those kinds of rates for tourists but the whole point of the passes is that Chicago residents who pay for the parks and museums get to enjoy them. It's impossible to do anything now without being nickel and dimed to death.

Surly,

How does the passes from the library work?

I guess I could not be lazy and google it.

Wow you just realized that? This has been going for several years before you moved here. Maybe you should have done better research before moving here.

No ,but you are. The library passes do not include admission to most special exhibits.

^^What are you going on about? i haven't used them to go to S&I but I've never had any issues using them for Brookfield, MOCA, AI etc. Unless I've just been sneaking into special exhibits unaware.

I never said that the cons outweigh the pros. The passes were created to allow residents some perks and if they are not providing entrance to the exhibits then they seem moot. If that isn't clear to you then you have larger issues. Though, you have made that abundantly clear already.

Yeah, I expected to pay extra but not that much extra.

Gen admission to the museum is $13. Gen admission plus Harry Potter is $26. Instead of charging us $13 (26 - 13, as though we already had general admission) they said we had to pay the "exhibition only" fee of $18. Kinda lame, I thought.

In all honesty, if it had been up to me, I'd have just paid it. My sister is very "careful about money" however and she wasn't having it.
