Chicagoland is incredibly sprawling. I should know I live in it!
Suburban Sprawl in Chicago Extends Further
The city itself has alot of density, about 12,000 per sq. mile, most of them living in constant fear that someone somewhere is talking poorly of Chicago Oh no!
Also...too many cars in other cities??? Chicago has three of the worst traffic congested areas in Ameirca.

Things I hate about Chicago"land" since moving here.
1.People on these message boards named "Milwaukee City" who pretend they left Wisconsin to live in the intimate wonderland of Chicago
2. Cubs fans
3. Drivers who either go 110mph in the passing lane or 40.
4. The people who can't deal with the fact that it's now the Willis Tower, even though they call Comisky "the Cell" and call Marshall Fields "Macy's"
5. The people who think Obama gives Chicago a better image
6. The palm trees on Oak Street Beach (but we don't try to be California)
7. The constant yammering about pizza, skyscrapers, and population density (but we don't try to be like New York)
8. The scuzzy trains
9. The way some twist "segregated" into "diverse"
10. The horrible airport, mostly due to the horrible weather
11. The smell of sewers and Gary Indiana permeating the city air
12. People driving to another county to avoid the high sales tax
13. People putting chairs and coolers in the streets to save their parking spots
14. People honking their horn for no apparent reason
15. Plastic bags and Wendy's cups decorating the streets
16. King Daley the 2nd
17. Parking (or lack there of)
18. Tough enough to root for the Bears AND brag about the selection of off-broadway shows?
19. Oprah
20. Jerry Springer somehow found a platform here
21. Re-runs of Married with Children are a source of pride
22. You can cook a better steak at home for 1/5th the price
23. Favorite ballpark reeks of urine!
24. Millenium Park wasted 10 minutes of my time
25. In competition with San Fran for most homeless
26. In competition with Detroit for biggest ghetto
27. The tallest building in North America will be shaped like a giant birthday candle/deformed penis
28. The Cusacks
29. Harry Carey turned into a raving alcoholic here
30. They killed Chris Farley, drove out Jennifer Hudson
31. Man Cow
32. People who are proud of Chicago, but have never lived there
33. The inferiorty complex of being 3rd in America, the overbearing comparisons to cities 1/10th as big
34. Obnoxious boosterism by people who live 30 miles outside the city
35. The houses in most neighborhoods are 12 inches apart
36. The closet racism handed down from generation to generation
37. Recently reported as most segregated big city, yet boasts about diversity
38. rated most over-regulated city in America
39. "Nostalgic" about its criminals
40. The people.
