Default Apartment-North side without credit check

Does anyone know of any rental companies on the Northside of Chicago (Lakeview, Lincoln Park, etc..) that will rent to you with bad credit? I had a bankruptcy a year ago and I'm afraid that will hinder me in finding a new place to live. If anyone has any names of rental agencies that are credit friendly I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Go through private landlords, not management companies. I've only been in two different apartments on the Northside but both were private landlords and though I filled out credit check forms neither actually ran my credit. If it really concerns you speak to them directly and let them know your situation. Lots of people are certainly going through it so you might be able to pay an extra security deposit or a couple months up front to forgo the credit check.

I also agree with going through private landlords. I've had many who didn't require credit checks, but many that did. Every rental company I know of does.

If you happen to pick up a serious drug addiction along with your bankruptcy, the Wilson Club Men's Hotel and Hotel Chateau require no credit check. Heck, they don't require much of anything. Here's a fine review of the latter:

Stay Away from the Chateau Hotel! - Review of Chateau Hotel, Chicago, IL - TripAdvisor

And the Wilson Club is actually worse than the one reviewed above, if you can believe that. This is absolutely the worst housing on the North Side. I'd rather sleep under a bridge somewhere.

I am sure the Tokyo Hotel would be more than accommodating to you as well.

Just providing our OP with the full range of options out there... From renting a privately-owned condo to a crack-infested flophouse.

Having lost my job recently, I am watching that lower rung a bit more intently these days... I see some of the people going in and out of the various flophouses and wonder just what went wrong in their lives.

Oy vey, Lookout, that made me laugh. "What sounded like a wounded chimpanzee next door..."

I know it's horrible and I seriously believe the Chateau Hotel should be shut down, but I couldn't help but laugh.

Although the roach thing seriously bothers me. Places like that are what spread those horrible creatures to other, cleaner areas.
