You could be right Surlycue, I just called my mother who insisted Cerone was murdered in "an underground tunnel explosion" in the 60's. She can not remember his first name but said the wifes name was Rose. I remember the daughter,Pam.
I have to find out which Cerone, I may have been spreading rumors about the mob and may be next on their list.

I don't think the owner of 100 South has anything to do with the Outfit. Thats the restaurant that everyone is referring to on York/Park in Elmhurst, right? I have actually met him a few times. Nice guy.

I was actually told that by a real estate person in the area, not exactly a reputable source. We stopped going to that restaurant a few years back.

Just to be clear, it wasn't because of what the real estate person had said it was because of poor service.

There are 2 rest. on the corner of Park and York. So, we have an "out" with this story and the kneecaps. Mother is still searching thru old Pics as she is SURE of her story and contacted her old pals. Yes, its Cerone, Yes its Elmhurst. Yes, it was a murder.
I hope someone with mob history younger then mom will clear up which Cerone met this death. Mom said its true. Trust me. Its true.

Don't know Frank's wife's name, but I do know that he was older than John. John's wife's name was Clara and I think she died in the 90s as well. John was in jail for shiesting a couple million bucks out of Vegas from the mid 80s until 96 when he was released and met his end.

The Outfit has largely been replaced by the street gangs and the Red Fellas as the prime force in crime here in Chicago. (I work for a criminal defense attorney) Kinda sad... as low life criminal murdering scumbags go they at least gave the appearance of being classy.

Street gangs are foot soldiers for The Outfit. Always have been. Only the ethnicity of "The Outfit" and the street thugs is a little more diverse than it used to be.
