I'm not sure why anyone except tourists or teenagers would even bother to go.....unless you go to see the fireworks.I went my first 2 years here after that it was pointless. My idea of fun is not walking around crowds, while hot,and spending 10 bucks on a tiny slice of cheescake....

Yeah, but the inevitable husband/boyfriend with the mullet and NASCAR shirt cracks me up.

You know its not that expensive. Its probaly an extra buck or two for a full portion then you would pay for going to the resturant. Also tax is included so you dont pay that also. I went this year and I got a brisket sandwich whick was 10 tickets (7 bucks), which prolly would have cost me 5-6 bucks to get at the resturant.

Fufanuu [waffle with ice cream] - 12 tickets

OMG
And try 10 tickets for TWO! chocolate covered strawberries!!! TWO!!! WTF is that! I hate to say it, but after being hit with about 20 F-ING strollers (WHO THE F brings a baby to an even with over a million people???!!!) and being told, "Don't get slapped now" and "Oz abots ta slap ya" because I didn't dive out of some cu%!s way as she slammed her stroller into my ankle, and being ripped off having to pay 7 bucks for a slice of Bacinos pizza and 8 bucks for a turkey leg, I don't think I will be back next year. After a 10 year streak of going every year, I think this is the end of the taste for me. It's not even fun anymore.

I was at the Taste during its first weekend and enjoyed it. But ... I was a tourist so maybe that's why. I thought some of the dishes offered were on the pricey side, but it can be affordable if you don't go in expecting to get a whole lot for a little. I wasn't very hungry when I visited, but I enjoyed seeing what was offered and found dishes like "Collard Green Egg Rolls" interesting. I ended up getting fresh french fries from the Harold's Chicken booth.

Chicago is a city I always, always, always look forward to visiting. The Taste was worth my while and made my visit fantastic!
