New Station
I found the new station quite by accident, but it's great. But what's the deal? What are the call letters? I've listened for a few weeks and have heard no mention of the station name. I hear the familiar "WNUA" jingle, but no mention of who you are. All the announcers say is "this is the smoothest place on your radio." What's up with that? Is it some kind of secret?

By law they have to identify themselves at the top of every hour. I'm sure that has not changed.

I'm thrilled that I can still listen to WNUA format. I was so upset when I discovered it was gone. My daughter found it by accident and then we called everyone to let them know where to find it. The only problem is that some radios don't go below 88. So if you have an old radio, you can't get it. But keep it up. I love to drive and listen to smooth jazz.

It sounds like a lot of people are finding this new station by accident. It's actually WLFM-FM and is billing itself as "The L." WLFM 87.7 FM Chicago

Smooth jazz.... Eeeeeh....
I'm all for lounge. I've been the biggest Thievery Corporation fan since long before they were popular (damn you, Starbucks, selling my band to other yuppies). But smooth jazz to me is like disco-- a really poor transition between two great things.

You could play a lot of Thievery Corporation tunes on a smooth jazz radio station and many of its listeners would be none the wiser.

This is interesting - you can also listen to (and watch) this station on your TV. Tune to analog channel 6 to listen and also get a nice slide show of Chicago landmarks. See, there is still some life left in analog TV! (Note that this will not work on digital channel 6 or cable channel 6.)
