What else is out there:

Note: Baku and Doha have not released logos yet. Also, Rio and Madrid have new designs coming out for the next stage.

You know... compared to the other logos out there, Chicago's doesn't look so bad after all. They all have me a little baffled.

I see an M and some mountains for the Madrid logo, but the rest? Bizarre. Especially the Praha one...

Madrid is being redesigned. Its not what they will officially be using.

I believe Praha's (aka Prague) is supposed to resemble a laurel leaf

Also, on Tokyo:
"The Tokyo 2016 logo takes the form of a traditional Japanese knot known as “MUSUBI”. It integrates the five Olympic colours into a motif of colourful and decorative knotted strings which have long been utilised in Japan to signify blessings during times of celebration.”

Who designed the Chicago logo, do you know? I like the idea of Praha's inclusion of the laurel leaf. I worked for ones of the companies that did the look of the '96 Atlanta games and enjoy Olympic design.

It was done by VSA Partners-Chicago. They did both the old torch and this logo pro-bono.

Love the torch logo. Feel the star logo needs a little texture or needs to be less symmetric. Perhaps the bottom blue/green area could be without the channels so it's more like water and less like the lakefront reflecting the buildings above, maybe ending in an arch to add a curved element to the design. Or, for texture, perhaps the colored part could be "ribbed" like the color on the torch logo.

I like the star. The star has universal appeal and it brings in a Chicago-centric touch. I also like the clean font, though an Arts & Craft font could look cool and add a historical element to boot.

I really like the old one. I don't dislike the new one, but I feel like it is less than effective.

Default Olympics in Chicago?

Why hasn't Chicago effectively stated who it is and where it stands on the world stage? Behind the performance of Rio and Madrid and Tokyo, Chicago needs to step up the politiking with countries that hold I O C members. The Chicago marathon's fiasco a sign of things to come?

I don't understand what you're asking even, but that last joke is not funny in the slightest
