I make illegal lefts all the time at those intersections like Halsted/Fullerton/Lincoln or Lincoln/Belmont/Ashland where there is no left turn light and the traffic is so severe that the first chance you get is when on coming traffic slows for the yellow light. I think that if you are in the intersection before the light turns red then the camera does not go off. I have never had a moving violation in the years I've been here so that is just my theory.

But really, if you are just going straight and run red lights so often that you need to buy a clear film for your plates you really should get caught so you learn your lesson or at least help to pay toward the cops and ambulances that come to the scene on the day that you jack knife some poor guy actually following the law.

Just put some electrical tape over 1 letter/number on your plate. If you get pulled over, just tell the cop that you're about to take some photos of your car at a friend's house so you can put them on the internet.

I hate that crap.
Turning right gets you flashed when you could barely see that dumb "No turn on red" sign

Why do they even have that rule!
It works on every other street that doesn't !

I got a red light ticket even though there was no "no turn on red" sign.
I tried to fight. My defense was the lack of a sign. I included pics of the intersection. I still lost.

It's all part of the plan.

Me too, kind of.
Canal and Roosevelt.
It was 1am and there were no cars at all around. The light had just turned yellow as I was approaching, I slowed to turn, turned, and flash. BS.

There's also this whole issue of how they're now using cameras in construction zones which will take the photo and give you a ticket even if you're going 1 mph over the speed limit. I'm pretty certain that not everyone's speedometers are that accurate.

Clear nail polish over the license or any kind of clear paint may work. I know for certain if you put something clear and shiny over something and then use a flash on it, you get a glare.
