Default I-90 commute from Wicker Park

How bad is the commute time in the mornings if I am living in Wicker Park and working in Bensenville? The shift can start at 8 or 9am. Google maps has it at 28 minutes (40 min with traffic). Is this realistic? I am from the Detroit area and have no idea.

I used to drive from Wicker Park to Des Plaines and it was like 37 to 43 minutes. Might be a similar drive to your's.

45 minutes to an hour (on a good day) is way more realistic.

Throw in a Cubs game or a multicar accident or even some heavy rain that back up O'Hare and WHAM that is easy over an hour. In a major rush hour snow storm that could doubled.

I know that the corridor times are measured by the road sensors and that data is accurate, but I suspect that the wee hours of the night and morning when there is no traffic skew the travel times far away from the true rush hour conditions.

absolutely go with the 8 am shift, much lighter traffic getting out of the City (and most likely coming back, assuming you'd be getting off work an hour earlier).
