My dad used to hit the Bohemian bakeries on Cermak, Fingerhuts was good.
I have a score of good Bohemian jokes but you tell them to young people now and you get blank stares.

Anyway, back on topic, and away from lame jokes, Operetta on Fullerton just west of Central is very good. I think it's run by a family from Brno.

Unfortunately, Czech restaurants are going the way of the Czechs, which is to say, they are vanishing into the woodwork.
Moldau on Ogden in Brookfield is good, but I don't know if I'd recommend it over the Czech Plaza. If you are making a trip to Brookfield Zoo, however, it might be worth a visit. There was another place in Brookfield (called "Little Europe" IIRC), just west of the Dunkin Donuts on Maple and Ogden. Don't know if its still there, but it is very good. The eight corners restaurant, (another well-known Czeski joint in Brookfield), is definitely gone.
Yeah, I miss the Old Prague, Dumpling House, Eight Corners, Johnny's Little Moravia, but the place I miss the most of all is the Pilsener, which used to be down the street from Czech Plaza. It was cheaper than Plaza, had bigger portions, gave free salad, free coffee and strudel or kolacky for dessert, and had the best tripe soup I've ever had.
They sure don't make restaurants like that any more.

Thanks for posting that great review on Klas. I grew up around the Midway Airport area and remember going to Klas as a kid, but haven't been there since. After reading that review, I'm so ready to go back!
