the island
how nice is the island really? from driving down through it looks nice but i know looks dont mean everything the impression i get is that they just take care of their homes and lawns ect and dont let people loiter or sell drugs on their blocks but i was wondering if anyway white people still live there

I don't think there are many white people there -- my guess is fewer than you could count on two hands. I think its "bastion of civilization" reputation is overplayed a bit, but the reputation takes hold anyway because of the neighborhood's relative calm compared to the really bad storm of urban activity that goes on around it. And some of that activity does seep into The Island, including a recent shooting and a number of robberies, burglaries, thefts, that kind of thing. All in all, it is a far cry from the jungle around it, but nobody should confuse it with Edison Park either.

the west side does seem to vary from block to block though one block could be very well kept with nobody out selling drugs and stuff while another could be totally run down with gangabangers selling rocks and stuff all of the island seems pretty calm though
lol i once saw a sign near cicero an and van gladys that said no selling/buying drugs and it was deserted if you go over by my grandparents house by kostener and harrison theirs people hustlling everywhere sadly

Do you have an aversion to punctuation or something? Because once you get beyond two would-be sentences your posts get increasingly difficult to read.

Machine politics, that's why Daley has loyal supporters. Only at the city can someone with a 12th grade education be making $94,000, especially in this economy.

The problem with no education is Plan B. It's hard to go from 94K to minimum wage if something were to go wrong.
