Default Chicago Downtown Entertainment Areas

I have clients heading to Chicago for a concert in last August. They are staying at a hotel downtown near Ohio and La Salle and want ideas for nearby areas with casual bars and food. Any suggestions?

Walk 1 block in any direction. Seriously. There's tons of stuff between Illinois and Chicago and between Wells and Rush.

The area your clients are staying in lacks character (River North), but it has plenty of dining and entertainment options. And it's adjacent to the Mag Mile. If you head north into the Gold Coast and Lincoln Park you will find even more options that are a cheap cab ride away. Streeterville (just east of the Mag Mile) has yet more options. There are cultural attractions to the south in the Loop, and a few restaurants and bars as well. You really can't go wrong no matter what direction you go.
