The Marshall Fields apartments are closer to Schiller or Goethe on Sedgwick than North Av. I can't think of a single CHA high rise on the lake at North.

^^I know that it's a co-op but I didn't realize it was CHA affiliated. Lots of older folks living there, or looks as much when I walk past. I wouldn't say it's residents are primarily minorities either, seems an even mix of black and white/hispanic.
I do hate the early-mid '70s style high rise though. That building and the ones around Lincoln Park West and Menomenee/Dickens are tacky eye sores.

The scattered sites I am referring to are definitely on North Ave.I know because a friend at the time lived in them. They did not have an actual name to them. This was like the early to mid 90's.They don't actually look like they are low-income.I guess that was the purpose-blend in.But most definitely CHA owned.(rent for her and 3 kids was $17).I even remember getting a ticket for not having a residential permit.
The other cross street could be Larabee instead of Sedgewick.Whatever street comes first going east, is not it.It's not at the corner of Marcello's.It would be the next main street going east and on the north side of the street.
The larger building I am referring to may not be exactly CHA owned, but is at least a mixture of low-income.It wouldn't be that far east by the lake either. It would be not even a full block down(from Sedgewick) on North
Ave,also on the northside on the street.
Again,I have no doubt this was so at that time. It's possible things could've changed. It seems that everytime,we return from out of town, somethings changed about Chi-town.

Yeah, there's definitely some low-income stuff scattered around both sides of North Avenue in Old Town. The stuff on the west side of Sedgwick between Evergreen and Blackhawk is definitely some nasty stuff. There's mixed-income on Larrabee just south of North Avenue, starting just south of the L tracks. I think there's a block of market-rate SFHs, then south of Blackhawk is 2-flats that are low-income. Those are pretty new, around 10 years old.
North of North you have some CHA or Section-8-type subsidized low-rise complexes directly north of North between Vine and Orchard that looks 60s/70s vintage that's also a little nasty. And there's some low-income townhouse-type things, also about 60s/70s-vintage on Larrabee about a block north of North. Those aren't too bad.

Those are mixed income ones as I know a dog (and an owner but I only know the dogs names) that lives in those is a management type at Sidley Austin. I also see lots of Audis and BMWs parked inside. I think the collection on Larabee up to Eugenie on the east side are market value and the side on the 1600 block of Orchard are lower income (if it's possible to tell by upkeep at all).
Those ones on Larabee south of the tracks across from the tech CPS school are also beautifully maintained and I've never even seen a resident sitting out on his/her stoop. Quiet people living in those for sure but I do remember reading a few years ago in the Trib about them screening and funneling Cabrini people into those.
ETA: There's also a mixed income lowrise building on Mohawk and Eugenie that brings the cops out once in a while for domestic issues.

I do respect low-income black people, I prefer diversity too. However when you see those buildings around the corner you want to make sure people there are just low-income friendly people.
I used to live on 31st street and there are some low-income housing and projects there, what I don't like there is some teenagers turn aggressive and tried to force me for some money.
I think it really depends on who actually lives in there and how it is managed.
Regarding this particular neighborhood, since you live there for years, I would say you know much better than me. With all the new constructions there it actually has great potential to become a very nice neighborhood.

I lived on 16th and Indiana, I think those are just older buildings. The neighborhood is nice, come join in.
