Best area in Chicago near I90-commuting to Elgin
After living in Elgin for a year, I've decided to go to Chicago to live but I'll have to commute everyday to Elgin. It's about 1 hour drive. I wanna live near the 90 west and if possible somewhere that is nearer to Elgin than Wicker Park, for instance... I think that 35-40 min drive would be more reasonable. What area do you reccommend?
Thank you very much

You would have a hard time getting to Elgin from O'Hare in 40 minutes with rush hour traffic, so even if you think the seating areas in the terminal are an acceptable place to sleep I think you are going to have to dial up you commute tolerance or look elsewhere.

I wouldn't live south of Lincoln Square. I actually used to commute from Argyle and Damen to Arlington Hts (Rand Rd). THAT took 40-45 in the a.m. and usually closer to an hour at night. Add on at least 20 minutes to Elgin, depending on where in Elgin you're going. When traffic's not too bad it'll take 45 minutes or so to Lincoln Square from the east side of Elgin, and that's not in rush hour.

The O'Hare area in Chicago is best for that commute.

If you can find a place on the NW side like in Jefferson Park or Albany Park, you could make it in as little as 45 min. Probably closer to a little over an hour. During snowstorms, it could be rough.
