I currently live in a nice area here in Houston in a 24 floor highrise condo I'm renting for 1100/month. I like being up high and love the loft/condo feel with a pool midways up the building. Just wondering if my price range could get me something similar in a reasonable neighborhood. I'm not too concerned about crime being that I come from a large metro so as long as bodies arent being found near by. Love house music and clubs that cater to such (being that Chicago is home to house music). Any living area that are decent and within clubbing distance. I'm a single male so again, crime/safety is a concern just not a big one. I may be able to squeeze an extra 600/month for rent if I pay my suv off instead of finishing up payments the next two years

Most highrises are by the lakefront, with some in westloop and what not. If you want to be within clubbing distance in a nice area, you are talking about lakeview, lincoln park, gold coast, old town mostly. $1000 will likely get you a studio, and $1500 probably a one bedroom. Neither will cover parking. Be ready to spend around $200 for parking in those areas.

There are high rise buildings in other parts of the city, but the majority are Near North Side, South Loop, Loop, Near West Side, and Gold Coast.

Check out Hawthorne House on N Lake Shore Dr in Lakeview. Incredible location and can walk to 3 excellent groceries. They should have a webpage as they are a mega highrise apt building.

There are actually quite a few unsuspecting locations. More are being buitl/converted in the River Oaks and near MidTown. I stay here, renting from a friend who purchased it. I was going to buy but not sure if I'll be staying in Houston.
