COnsidering moving to OLD Irving Park bungalow
I want to know how quiet the neighborhood is, overall for an urban setting. I lived in Lakeview for 15 years, and moved to the suburbs just to try it out. It was too bland and generic, not really all that quiet. I am thinking of buying a bungalow on a quiet street ZIP 60641 price range $250-ish. Is there anyone who has recently moved to the neighborood and had a GOOD experience? Would love to hear it.

The closer you are to the Kennedy, the more ambient noise there will be, especially since there's also an L line running in the median. Other than that, the side streets are relatively quiet; probably not as much so as in the suburbs, but probably quieter than in Lakeview. I find more I like about the neighborhood the longer I live here. My only complaints have been the aforementioned expressway noise and a lot of vacancies in the retail store fronts, especially along Irving Park. The latter makes the area look more run-down than it really is.

It's pretty quiet on the residential streets most of the year but a bunch of the K streets team up in the summertime and do impromptu block parties once in a while. There are also probably a greater number of elementary school aged children in OIP than in Lakeview so make sure not to buy a place near an elementary or junior high school if you are looking for peace and quiet. Personally, I'd suggest checking out Jefferson Park or the Peterson Park area just south of the border with Lincolnwood if you are looking for a more peaceful setting. If you can find a house that borders Forest Glen (the actual preserve, not necessarily the neighborhood) for less than $250K, jump on that because it's as close as one can get to a tranquil setting on the Northside.

Go for it. I've really tried to love the "bungalow belt" myself, but can't get over the small-townish provincialism in many of those neighborhoods. I swear they are all related out there.

60641 is a very large area like most zip codes. What major streets is this house around?
