You too, girl. It takes a special kind of degenerate to do that.

that is horrible glad you and your child are ok

I saw this thread tonight. Then below it I see one called Almost got bike jacked...Looking at the news tonight I see a lot of robbery and shooting stories...definitely more than normal. And to top it off, I saw 3 homeless people in my town today. Normally I see 1 every few months, if that. Not that I care that much, just interesting.

You guys think this is almost a direct result from the economy? Why else might things seem to be getting worse?

Glad you're ok. That sounded really scary what you went through.

I was actually at my friends place that night in Pilsen. We walked to get some tacos from a street vendor around 8 and we were seeing a ton of undercovers roll by. One after another. On the way back we went right through the east side of the park near the basketball courts. There were a bunch of families and kids hanging around. At that point it didn't seem like anything so brutal had happened just a couple of hours earlier.

I'm glad you are OK, and I'm glad you were in the appropriate place of mind to make the decision that you made. So many people see a gun and then just instantly freeze up. You always read advice like "always run from a gunman, pistols are very inaccurate..." but I'm not sure that I would have been able to do what you did, and I have been around guns my entire life (was given a .410 shotgun for Xmas when I was 8).

This just goes to show why it is always good to be aware of your surroundings, even when driving, and definitely always leave plenty of room between yourself and the car in front, and always know where your quickest escape routes are.

True. I went shooting earlier this year with my brother. He has a 9mm and a shotgun. Wow, am I a bad shot with a handgun. You really do have to practice. It was hard for me to hit the target just 20ft away or so.

Now the shotgun on the other hand. I couldn't miss with it. Just makes your shoulder really sore after awhile.

I'm thinking of getting one for the house now. I understand they are legal in Chicago.

I was in a very similar situation in Richmond, VA. Some thug tried to rob my car, but I pulled with with my head ducked down, but he shot through the driver side window. Heard that load bang and a few seconds of ringing... Felt like I got away, but as I drive off with 4 friends in the car, i feel a warm sensation down my neck. I place my hand on the back of my neck only to feel a warm liquid which was my BLOOD. Surprisingly no pain, just called the police and told them the location of the crime, but they wanted my location instead to see if I was injured. After a few blocks I was pissed because the two police cruisers met me at my destination but doubt they even went to the crime scene. Makes me wish I should have chased the guy myself, but the police made me wait for the ambulance. Thank GOD I'm good and well to this day.
