Almost got bike jacked...
Man, even Wicker Park ain't safe! I just went out for a quick Wicker Park cruise / freestyle session and as I was going home I was gonna turn Leavit to Hirsch but a blue Impala with a Hispanic driver looked at me as I turned and accelerated hard and turned with me to Hirsch. I knew they were following me to bike jack me so I jumped onto the curb and reversed direction. They couldn't follow high speed in reverse so I lost them! This was the first time I ever got an attempted bike jacking, and it was with my 2nd best and most treasured bmx bike, a custom built Hutch Pro I had since 1983! There were two guys in the back seat.
I guess they were hood from Humbolt Park! I also biked with my $9000 Cervelo at 1:30 pm.

They could have been hood crossdressers too after my $20,000+ in women's clothes!
I made sure I lost them before going home. And my next door neighbor who just moved in 1 month ago is a State Police guy. Now I got nowhere to hide if there's a warrant for me! But I guess he's "protection!" |

My daughter was nearly Elmo-jacked at the playlot today. I left her favorite stuffed Elmo in her stroller while we enjoyed the swing, and some surly looking three-year-old snatched it while we weren't looking. We got it back when the three-year-old's nanny saw him with it, but we were all pretty frightened. My daugher used to think the playlot was safe, but her sense of security has been shattered. |

I'm not posting bikejacking fiction; this stuff really happened! I'm just telling you even this kinda crap happens in a good neighborhood like Wicker Park!
