Hold on. I have to go get my crystal ball out of the closet and dust it off. I must boil the water for tea leaves as well.

Lot of marketing grads in the city... May want to start by looking at sales jobs, marketing consulting firms, or contract marketing positions. Also join a local marketing association to network (e.g. American Marketing Association). Do you have experience in a specific industry? How about technical skills?

I graduated with a BSc in Advertising from the University of Florida and I can be honest with you and tell you that you will not be able to find a job unless you have some media sales or agency experience under your belt. If you want a job regardless of what it is, I'd suggest working at a call center. There is extreme turnover in call centers due to the monotony, micromanagement and long hours often required to work in customer service or inbound sales call centers. If you truly want to land a gig alone with a AA or AS, I'd suggest trying to land an inside sales account executive/manager role with a small-to-medium size gig. The only dilemma is that often SMEs (Small-to-Medium Sized) enterprises are reluctant on hiring people with zero inside sales experience because in said environments, you need to be an aggresive cold caller capable of producing about 75-100 cold calls (20-30 buying conversations) a day. If you don't have that experience of developing sales pipelines, relationship selling, etc, it'll be hard trying to get a gig with any company, PERIOD!
In my humble opinion, you might have to lie...

If you want to get into the marketing dept. of a large corp., I'd suggest looking for a contract position w/in the company so you can network for a full-time position. Zero in on some of the big companies that are hiring and find out what placement service they use.

Also, since you're still in school, a marketing degree may have bigger impact when paired w/ another, more technical degree.... E.g. Marketing w/Biology for pharmaceutical, marketing w/Accounting or Finance for Banking, Marketing w/engineering (or even a trade specialty) for the big Engineering firms, Marketing w/computers for software sales, etc...

Finally, try to be current in the latest technology/software/standard processes in your industry. This may require addtnl. courses/certification...
