1904 Chicago map in high resolution
Thought this would be of interest. The map focuses on industry and railroads, but you can zoom in on neighborhoods, streets, etc. to see which blocks were plotted 105 years ago.

I must be slow. I can't figure out how to zoom in close enough to look for streets without blurring it beyond recognition. All I can see at full size is the boulevard system and thusly Lincoln Park, Humboldt Park, Garfield Park and Douglas Park.
ETA: Nevermind, I got it now. I'm really surprise at how similar it is. The only really obviously undeveloped areas on the Northside lakeshore are Buena Park and Uptown.
Is there a second map for areas south of 35th?

No the obvious undeveloped or partially developed areas on the far northside, northwest side, and far northwest side include (to name a few): Albany Park, West Ridge, West Rogers Park, the southern part of Roger Park, Sauganash, Budlong Woods, half of "Roscoe Village", parts of Ravenswood, parts of North Park,Belmont Central,Dunning, Belmont Heights, Cragin, the O'Hare area.
Also parts of: Norwood Park; Jefferson Park; Edison Park,Forest Glen, etc...
Buena Park,Uptown,Edgewater,etc... are basically completely gridded on this map.

I said lakeshore to specifically not discuss the areas west of the cemetery. How nice of you to waste your time just to point out your reading comprehension short comings.

"Lakeshore" consists of what to you?
If you had better map reading skills you would see that 98% of the area one would call the north lakeshore area in Chicago is completely developed and gridded in this map.

West of what cemetery? There are only like 6 on the north and far northside "lakeshore" area of the city....

Buena Park has the exact same street pattern as today, with one section of Belle Plaine between Broadway and Sheridan missing. Many of the streets have different names. And obviously Marine Drive and Lake Shore Drive are missing.
Uptown isn't that different either, though a swath one-block wide is missing just north of the cemetary.

A grade school of course is one of the buildings that was built there. Perhaps the land was just recently bought from Graceland and was one of the last parcels sold?
