Chicago might be losing Boeing
"Boeing ( BA) CEO Jim McNerney is eager to move the company to China. Whether moving Boeing to China means shifting its headquarters from Chicago to Beijing is up in the air"

This is the only news outlet I could find that has anything on this story, so I certainly wouldn't jump to conclusions yet.
I think people in other areas of the country, especially Seattle, should be FAR more concerned than Chicago. Chicago does have a few hundred employees, but out of the thousands and thousands that work for the company it's not going to be a huge impact on the local economy.
The big thing here is what it means for the USA in general. Moving your entire headquarters to a different country is a pretty bold move.

If Boeing outsources to China, I hope they have rigorous quality control methods in place. In the furniture business, the mid-range product we deal with has seen a shift from product being outsourced in China, to companies doing their own production in China. Why? Because of the culture of cheating( in this case on specifications)that exists in China when you work with some contracted, out sourced suppliers. This led to batches of bad parts and product failures. The companies over came this by opening their own factories in China, with their own quality control standards and methods and with direct over sight. IF a chair breaks you hurt your fanny, if a plane breaks- your gone.

Drover, let me save you the trouble.
CHIMACK, WE ALL READ THE SAME NEWS WEBSITES YOU DO.
Wait. The Daily Finance? I, erhm, actually don't check that one as often as I'd like.
Actually, I've never heard of it.
But I'm sure you guys all read it regularly, right? Right, everyone? Drover? Guys?

Judging by the hysterical incoherence we're subjected to anytime chimack actually tries to type out a thought, I'm guessing that's not on his daily reading list either. I wonder how he came across it.
Is there some sort of an "I hate Chicago" news aggregator site?

Yep
ChiMack you know nothing about global business at all. Less than 1% of Boeing's global supply chain and operations come from Chicago.
See, ever since you moved to NYC you have gotten good at making blanket statements that have no real meaning or quantitative backing. Can I have a mortgage for my 8 year old plz while you are at it?

The Chinese cant even make drywall correctly! Now this?!?! Their toys are awful, their steel is awful, their cars are awful.... but Boeing expects them to produce jets for the world? Ill never allow friends or family to fly again if thats the case.
When will American companies get it through their thick frickin skulls????
