I've heard a couple Spanish-speakers who grew up here in Chicago say that it took a trip to Mexico to understand how bad their Spanish really is. And from what I understand, Spaniards consider Mexican Spanish to be a little, well, weird maybe? So it stands to reason that Chicago Spanish must sound truly, uh, "unique" to a Spaniard. It will be interesting to hear it from a Spaniard...

One way to save money in Chicago is to take advantage of ethnic restaurants. Avoid eating in River North and other touristy areas. Not only are the prices higher, the sales tax is higher. Here are just a few fun and inexpensive ethic options in Chicago neighborhoods:

Chi Cafe in Chinatown. Chi Cafe

Nueva Leon in Pilsen. (Cash only). Welcome to Nuevo Leon Restaurant: 1515 W. 18th, Chicago, IL (312) 421-1517 | Mexican Restaurant

Korean BBQ. Fun! Chicago Kalbi: The Best Korean BBQ in town
