If I sought advice on the NYC forum and some transplant from Ohio mouthed off about neighborhoods in Brooklyn I'd want to know. You have been outed.
I'm still curious as to what you mean when you say transplants here are uninformed about the current state of Chicago as well as its history. I want you to explain how this is NOT a blanket statement of sorts; right now I think that you're unfairly categorizing people.

Furthermore, I've never been deceived or misled by the more prolific posters in the Chicago forum. While they border snarky at times, most questions are answered promptly and correctly. If the honest to goodness true answer is in question, others will debate it. What's so difficult about that?

And anyways, what is so terribly wrong about someone dishing advice about one of the boroughs if they haven't been there for forty years? My ex's brother in law moved from New Orleans to the Bronx at age 26 and has been living there for about nine years now. He LOVES his community and is constantly in the mix. If he tells it like it is and is giving people 100% truthful answers, what is the problem?

OK, some of that stuff is pretty funny. But it also shows a ridiculous stereotyping of the Nort Seit.

If you're going to stereotype, at least be funny about it:

HILARIOUS!!

I quite enjoyed the Joliet Barbie. I've had the great fortune of living in Joliet for the last year, and I can certainly tell you that at downtown events or any event at the Joliet raceway, the Joliet Barbies and their men are in full attendance.

Somebody that has lived in a neighborhood for 2 years is going to know more about that neighborhood than you do living 40 years, somewhere else in Chicago.
