Default coming to chicago for 1st time-seeing oprah-anyone advice??

I am usually a New York thread poster. My husband just suprised me and my sister with Oprah tickets-so excited. Any recommendations about the area? the show? places to go while we are in town? Thanks

Congratulations on securing Oprah tickets and hope you enjoy the show. My favorite restaurant in the Harpo Studios area is The Wishbone where you might enjoy lunch or even dinner. Very popular, southern cooking (but not diner, a touch nicer yet inexpensive and very casual attire is fine). You can check out their website. There are also good restaurants in the 800 block of W Randolph which is closeby (Marche being one that comes to mind).

If you are looking for other info about the city let us know more specifically what you are seeking as we have just about everything, as you can imagine.

Enjoy your trip.

There's a local chain here called Flat Top Grill that I really enjoy. It's a do-it-yourself stir-fry concept, though the staff does the actual cooking, you just put the ingredients together and hand it over to the cook. Anyway, there's a Flat Top right across the street from Harpo Studios. Check it out says I.

At the show, you may get to greet the host after the taping. Keep your hands in sight and try not to make any sudden moves.

I was just in beautiful Chicago for a conference. Loved window-shopping on the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave), dinner at the Green Zebra (realllly great vegetarian restaurant, need reservations), and drinks at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the Hancock Tower (where you can get dizzying views of Chicago, even from the ladies' restroom!) Wished I'd had enough time to visit the new wing of the Art Institute, designed by Renzo Piano. Loved the city's architecture and parks (Millenial and Lincoln)!
