Much warmer? How about slightly warmer? Let's not pretend it's some sort of tropical paradise.

Let's ignore all of this and sing.
Thinking how it's going to be when I get you next to be
It's gonna be good
Don't you know
From your head to your toe
Gonna love you all over,
over and over

A. The author of this piece is an anti Obama zealot/ conspiracy theorist / Rontard, who, like most anti Obama zealots hate anything associated with Obama.
B. He lists the lack of "White majority " schools as one of the drawbacks. Not only does he come across as racist, but his assertion that there is not one majority white high school is wrong.
C. Lot's of places are cheaper then Chicago, drive 80 miles outward any pretty much any town in Illinois is cheaper then Chicago. They are cheaper for a reason. There are only a handful of cities in the US that offer the cultural amenities that Chicago offers, Houston is not one of them

What cities are Chicago caliber? New York City and Los Angeles are considered by the rest of our nation to be above Chicago caliber. Everyplace else is smaller. San Francisco? More expensive but it also has Chicago beat in terms of natural beauty and image.
Like Steven Colbert said "Ahhh Chicago. If you can make it there, you can make it in Minneapolis or pretty much any midwestern city." I enjoy going to Chicago on occasion, if I can find it through the miles of suburban sprawl

Paris, eat your heart out.
I'm green and drooling with envy. What every city should have. What a country.

Nah. Our hotdogs and pizzas are considered gourmet here in Chicago, so we are better. pffft. And Chicago has more strip malls I'm sure.

I live in McHenry. I can drive to Chicago or hit the closest Metra and be there in 40 min. The culture will always be there whether I can see it out my window or not. There is no reason for Chicago to be that expensive to live. Its greed, plain and simple.

In theory if we go just by size, you could include in Chicago's category also Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, not sure about Philly, surely Washington DC.
All LA might have on Chicago is the weather, but if "sprawling" is a bad thing, LA is worse than Chicago. I'll take Chicago over LA any day. Never been to Frisco so can't say, but Chicago is also much better than Atlanta, Houston and Dallas (just my opinion).
Honestly I can't even say for sure NY beats Chicago, because I know Manhattan very well but that's about it. Beside the cost of living in NY which is flat ridicolous, but I also think that sometimes Chicago is penalized when compared to NYC because most will compare it just to Manhattan. Start adding the other boroughs including areas like East New York for example and perceptions might quickly change.
Not taking shots at NY, I love going there. But many refers to Manhattan when they say NY and that would be like considering Loop and River North only when talking about Chicago.
