I saw this reported today too. It's good news for the film industry here, but bad news for the metal workers who formerly worked at that location.

The steel industry in the Chicago area has been declining rapidly since the 80's, maybe earlier than that. Me thinks this place was bound to close, with or without the film studio.

Ryerson - The Strength in Metal

Ryerson is still keeping some facilities at that location, but they sold off one of their larger brick buildings for this studio.
