If your children are not in high school you might think about Oak Park. It is quaint, yet very diverse, and there is a non-profit housing center to help you get settled. It is also possible to lease short term while you look for a home. Oak Park Tourist - Touring, Living and Working in Oak Park, Illinois

Hyde Park and Oak Park are both desireable addresses.
