Is it really that hard to
a. read the signs along the streets where you park your car regularly
b. read/watch the news for the last couple days, because I've heard about it several times

Hmm?

On WGN they just had someone at the impound lot saying "there's a lot of people here, and boy are they angry!"

I really don't have sympathy for people who don't read signs. This is also a similar effect at CTA stations - there's usually a sign explaining what's going on, so unless you're blind, illiterate or can't read english, there's no excuse!

Yeah well the city is pretty shady with this.

There are many places where the signs say you can't park and will be towed only if the snow is 2 inches deep or more. There can be no snow on the ground and the city has been known to tow. There is no snow on the ground at the moment.

Where the signs say no parking overnight snow route 3am to 7am tow zone or whatever between December 1 and April 1 that is another story.

I get the feeling a good number of people parked in areas that I described in the former.

For anyone that is curious where both of these zones exist look on this page for maps:

Friend of mine mentioned the other day that he thought the towing place was run by Mafia. Is there any truth to this??

Not trying to start a rumor, just heard this literally two days ago.

I am a victim of what you say. A couple years ago they were predicting a major snow storm but it hadnt started snowing yet and they towed my truck anyway.
Pissed me off so bad I have a hesitation about parking anywhere near a sign.
