Anybody remember the series of businesses that the Nation of Islam owned and operated?

For example, the Star & Crescent restaurant at 79th & Stony Island (I think). There were also dry cleaners and shoe stores and health food stores.

I remember when NOI Industries won a contract to do security in a few housing projects. And apparently they were quite effective in no small measure because they had "street cred," or at the very least they had first-hand knowledge of what/whom they were dealing with and how to deal with it/them. But once a news story broke about the contract and what the "NOI" part of "NOI Industries" stood for, a big controversy ensued and they eventually lost their contract.

You mean the kufis and bow-ties weren't dead giveaways?

I saw the Buckinghams play at the Holiday Ballroom. Odd, they played live and were good but they lip-synched their hit at the time "Kind of a Drag".
I also recall seeing the Flock and a bunch of other big names at a teen place at Pratt and Sheridan called the Pink Fink.

I miss the old WGBO super 66 when it was an independent station.

My aunt & Uncle mentioned there was a Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum on Wells St I loved the one in Niagara Falls I think the navy pier would be a perfect location for a new one.

We have since gotten a DQ Grill & Chill and I've had way too many OJ's since they opened earlier this year!

Yes, there was. We went to Ripley's after we moved to Chicago in the 70's.

Wasn't there a wax museum on Wells during the 70's or was it just inside of Ripley's Believe or Not?
