This post by NY rules is completely out of touch. First everybody does want to live in the loop even if you work theree or matter of fact spend $1600 in rent. Also, if you live by near suburb i.e. oak park, berwyn, you do not spend 80 a week on gas. I am single by the way with no children, and I live in a near suburb. I have complete access to city and I am not paying the crazy prices to live in it. It is not worth it. The urban lifestyle is not that serious. Oh btw, I do have a car, but what helps me is that I do not have a car payment.

I'm surprised to see Chicago is still a white majority city...but its good that its all around 30%, it shows its diverse
. I'd actually like it more if Chicago were more like it was in the 50's, just more modern and tolerate. I life would be so much more enjoyable if you could just step out your door and be involved with over 3.6 million people. Now in the suburbs, you step out your door, and you see a your traditional brick houses and tree lined streets with 3 cars in front of the house.

It's only a white majority city if you count Hispanics as whites, otherwise we're not even close to a majority-white city. And if you do count Hispanics as white, then it makes perfect sense that we're a majority-white city -- and in fact we have become increasingly so on account of our substantial influx of Hispanics.

White flights reversing itself in Chicago and New York, but Detroit is still affected by it. Chicago is nearly a 33/33/33 city which is great! The city has been booming since 1990 no doubt and the population has been on an increase since then. If the Census doesn't have Chicago at or just below three million (and I'm talking like 2,999,854) then we know that there is some serious miss counting. I don't think that there are 3.6 million people in the city, but I do think it is over 3,000,000.

I always try to figure in illegals when anyone asks me population questions, In Chicago I don't know the est. but in Milwaukee City, the city pop is 603,000 and at last estimates there were 20-25,000 illegals in the city of Milwaukee so i would usually say 630,000 for city pop. Remember illegals are people too. What are Chi's est. on illegal pop?

I'm not sure exactly, I know that Chicago is actually larger than L.A if you were to take away illegal immigrants from their population, but I'll check the actual number of illegals, I'd say something around 100,000?

There are 500k-750k illegals (uncounted) in Chicago alone in my opinion. In the Chicago area there are probably between 1-1.5 million with the city total included.

that's the equivilant of Boston or San Fransisco's population...That's way to high, that puts Chicago at nearly 4 million...

. I'd actually like it more if Chicago were more like it was in the 50's, just more modern and tolerate. I life would be so much more enjoyable if you could just step out your door and be involved with over 3.6 million people. Now in the suburbs, you step out your door, and you see a your traditional brick houses and tree lined streets with 3 cars in front of the house.
