Sheer numbers don't equal health.

Chicago's housing sizes are MUCH smaller than pre 1950, and they continue to shrink. I would rather see new condos and rehabilitated streets and buildings than just large families cramming into housing units.

The north side doesn't have as many people as it use to....but you can't deny it's as healthy as its ever been for the most part.

There are neighborhoods to worry about and invest in...but not just because of the number of humans who live there.

it's quality of life for the people, not quantity of people. They surely go hand in hand as a general trend, but it's not clear cut.

Great, I'll send you the tuition bill for my kid's private school tuition when I finally give up trying to make CPS schools work for my kid's educational needs.

When my org hires people we look at the zip code. If it isn't Chicago proper, you get docked on your applicant scoring. It is my favorite thing that docs people. Just admit it, moving to the burbs is like taking a giant step into the GRAVE. Coming back downtown with us is like stepping back out of the grave. Not really dead you know, but not exactly living either... What is it called? Oh yes Zombies.

So tell me, what's so much more vital about living in, say, Hegewisch, versus living in Oak Park? Does some magic happen when you cross over Cumberland Avenue that makes River Grove less lively than Dunning?

Your company's applicant scoring criteria are stupid. I wouldn't trust the competitiveness and judgment of an organization that systematically diminishes 3/4ths of the region's applicant pool.

Pretty snotty.

Nobody used to live downtown, was everybody in the grave then?

What is your response to parents who have school age kids and make less than $100k? So far, you have not offered any reasonable options. Perhaps your company isn't interested in hiring parents. Or perhaps your company pays $200k to start?
