I am relocating to Chicago to work for a soccer team in Bridgeview, IL. I have a group of friends that live in Lincoln Park and I really want to live there because outside of work I dont see myself spending any time in Bridgeview.

What would be the daily commute for me to get to Bridgeview, from Lincoln Park area?

Are there any fun young happening places that are a bit closer to Bridgeview?

Thanks!

If you are working for the Chicago Fire, that is awesome. It is a lot of fun, at least as a fan. Unfortunately Chicago does not have a reverse commute because there are a ton of people going city to suburb and suburb to suburb. If you drive, your commute will probably be close to an hour each way assuming you work the regular 8 or 9 to 4 or 5 in the afternoon. I don't know of the public transit options out to Bridgeview, maybe PACE buses go out there but that will involve transferring from the CTA to PACE or Metra to PACE.

You can live further south than Lincoln Park with the same rent ranges and still be close enough to your friends. The one way to avoid the bottleneck on the Dan Ryan downtown is to move to the South Loop (granted a little far from Lincoln Park but still on the red line). That could cut your commute in half since you only have to take I-55 southwest.

Wicker Park and Bucktown are less expensive and slightly closer to Bridgeview, but still close to Lincoln Park. Still have the Dan Ryan problem though.

I guess it's a tradeoff between South Loop for less commute and Lincoln Park to be around familiar people.
