Jim Ryan has proposed it as a away to help payoff the states debts. Apparently Indiana sold their rights for about $3.5 billion and he thinks this might be good for us too.

The last time I drove thru Indiana on the tollway it cost about $8-$9 dollars to get my Mercury to the Ohio state line. I wonder how much us locals are willing to pay to be stuck in traffic all the time, or will higher tolls mean less cars? It could mean much more traffic on the Dan Ryan as people might use that as a free alternative to escaping south and east.

Should we or will we? Selling off all these things that gives us yearly revenue is like using your credit cards to pay of bills. Temporary solution

How's selling the parking spaces in Chicago worked out for you?

This selling off of what belongs to the people to private companies seems to me a really bad idea.

Yes, sell the tollways to a wealthy sheik from an OPEC country.

This selling of assets nonsense is one of the most asinine things I've seen in a while.

Selling one of the few government assets that actually takes in more money than it costs to administer is just the kind of stupid thing that our local politicians would think is a grand idea. Therefore, it's perfectly conceivable that it will happen.

The tolls are too profitable for these jerks... It looks like tolls are going to be raised!

"The toll would increase 35 cents for I-Pass users at a typical mainline toll plaza, with cash-paying passenger vehicles continuing to pay double the I-Pass rate. Many toll plazas charge 40 cents for I-Pass users."

Quinn won't say if he supports major toll increase - chicagotribune.com

I can't imagine how high the tolls would rise if they sold it! It'd be chaos.

Wasn't the Skyway privatized? They want like $5 per axle or something just to drive on that thing.
