I am bringing my sons to Chicago for a Cubs day game in May or June 2010. I have heard nightmares about parking around the stadium. I am looking for any suggestions or advice about parking not too far away from the stadium, my sons are 6 and 4 and walking a long way would be boring to them. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Are you staying at a hotel somewhere in Chicago? If so, I would consider keeping the car parked there and taking the Red Line to Wrigley.

Are you staying in Chicago?

Just take the red line train then. Parking is difficult, traffic is worse.

...or plan on arriving REALLY early, parking a half-mile away and taking a cab. they will not be bored walking in the immediate vicinity due to the spectacle of the peanut and t-shirt vendors and overall mayhem, trust me.

^ If I remember correctly, there is a residential permit restriction (6pm-6am) on all side streets within a half mile of the park. ^

So if the OP is going to a game that starts later than 1:20, this option is basically out. The city starts enforcing the parking restrictions at 5pm.

Hmm, I think that's about right, but it's not uniform, last game I went to this year we parked just west of Racine and just south of Addison on a side street. So yes, in general I'd say start looking for a space a *minimum* of a half-mile away.

Although with the new meters in place I'm not even sure how many of my old spots are still doable, as over a lifetime of doing this I have gotten a pretty system for finding those blocks which are non-permit and non-meter (there ain't many!).

Really, the CTA is best - but depending how far you're coming from, you still have to get a parking spot somewhere.

There is also the option of parking at DeVry and taking the shuttles...

The "383" zone restrictions apply during night games only.

Personally, I'd park on one of the non-restricted side streets just west of Broadway near the Berwyn station and Red Line it in from there.

383 is the original no parking from 6pm - 6 am zone that blankets much of Lake View.

The no parking during Cubs games are LV-2 (or something like that) and much more specific.
