A lot of people have purchased used cars on the cheap and left them at or near the suburban train station. They literally use the car to get to work from the suburban train station, in your case Lisle and then back again.

Some stations that don't allow you to park 24 hours, you can leave the car in a parking lot. See if that's a possibility. I'm talking like a $1000 or $1500 car.

maybe have a bike on both ends - so you don't have the hassle to take a bike onto the Metra.

One thing to look hard at is whether there's a reasonable cycling route from the Lisle station to your office. Bicycling in the suburban office park areas is often really unpleasant. Where will you be working?

CTA schedule for the 151 shows that it's only 23 minutes on the bus from Pearson/Michigan to Union Station during the morning rush.

I've ridden it many times before, and while it is slow (20 minutes for a 2-mile trip works out to 6mph), it certainly does not take an hour.

If you're west of Michigan, you could also consider walking to Lasalle and taking the 156 - it's 15 minutes from Institute (which is basically Pearson) to Union Station.
