May not be as strange as some previous posts, but this past Friday I got off the el after work and passed an "ambiguously" homeless man transferring cans from a black trash bag into a white trash bag. He was there by himself with no apparent intentions other than moving his precious metals from one bag to another. As I passed I wish I knew what was going through his head...

One time, when I was hanging out at Phylis's Music Lounge in Wicker Park a homeless man walked in and tried selling a rope and pulley to everyone, until the bartender kicked him out... And then, on the day I was moving into a coach house in East Village a homeless man was peeing on the back of the house , right under the kitchen window when I was unpacking my dish set.....

Around this time last year, I saw a man walking a little brown pig -- on a leash -- down a very nice residential street in the Lakewood-Balmoral neighborhood. I didn't know anyone kept pigs as pets in the city!

One Sat nite at the intersection of Irving and Sheffield/Sheridan (right by the Sheridan red line stop) there was this bum meandering around with his pants down and his ahem all hanging out.

People are just ignoring him; this cab driver drives along, opens his window and yells at the top of his voice "PULL UP YOUR F%%^&G PANTS YOU g$% d$%^ a$$^&*( !!"

It goes well with the people who kept chicken coops on the porches in far north Rogers Park. The rooster would look down on you and give you the business through the chicken wire.

Oh man, I grew up in Rogers Park and still remember that!

I know I've seen weirder stuff that this, I just can't remember them. A homeless man was talking to me and a friend on the el about how sure he was that his missing limb (under his knee) was definitely growing back. He got off at Belmont.

Once, when I was on the 'el', the train stopped abruptly on the tracks and the conductor leaned out the window and yelled 'you get your a**es on this train right now or I'm calling the cops' and opened one of the doors. Two sheepish looking teenage boys climbed onto the train from the tracks they had been walking down and were publicly berated by the conductor for being idiots in front of the whole train.
