The ice I've been staring at since early November broke up today. By late afternoon I could hear the glorious sound of waves lapping - after months of icy silence.
And the two loons who graced our bay last year and raised a young one there, returned today. With any luck, in a few weeks we'll be watching another youngster hitch rides on his parent's back.
