The lack of response from the end timers is certainly telling.I am a little surprised that not one of them has even tried though. But then perhaps some of them are not even schooled well enough in futurist theology to really understand what they are buying into and did not realize this.

All you need to know about how silly the idea of the end times is, is this. Most end times prophecy, without going into great detail,is based around the idea of a final 7 year period of a prophecy from the book of Daniel still to be fulfilled.(google Daniel's 70 weeks for those interested in the details). But the prophecy makes clear that all the 490 years (70 weeks of years) should have already passed. Why?Because the starting point for the prophecy can be no later than 444 BC.It is based around the delivering of a decree to rebuild Jerusalem, and the last decree doing this was given in 444 BC.Obviously more than 490 years have past since that decree has been issued. So what gives with the end times folks and this problem?Ah,watch and learn the mind of a fundie Christian.According to Hal Lindsey, who is the guru emeritus on all things end times,God decided to "stop the stopwatch" after the 483rd year of the prophecy.Thhhaaattt'ss right folks! The 483rd year of the prophecy occurred sometime around Christ's time, the 484th has not yet started.Novel approach,no?When the countdown to a prophecy isn't going as it should for your belief, you simply stop counting.Until you want to start counting again.Evidently God didn't get the plan worked out exactly right in 444 BC,so He simply put the prophecy on hold.

And there you have it boys and girls.Never doubt the ability of a conservative literalist Christian to be able to twist and manipulate the Scriptures they claim to believe in LITERALLY.Except,of course, when their beliefs do not literally jibe with what Scripure says. Then all bets are off.

By the way,I am going out on a limb and predicting the election of a woman President in 2 1/2 years. If it doesn't occur in 2012,then obviously the stopwatch was stopped, and will begin ticking again at some future time.I imagine I will be able to tell exactly when it started reticking on,oh say,the Wednesday after a woman is elected in November.I'll get back to you on this.

Fella, the last seven years of the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 commences with the beginning of the Tribulation following the rapture of the Church. You don't need Hal Linsey to tell you that. It is perectly clear from the Scriptures themselves, which by the way is how people such as Hal Linsey came to know about it. The clock was put on hold for the purpose of forming the church, which Christ first spoke of in Matthew 16:18. The church-age actually began on the day of Pentecost. When the formation of the church, which is described as the body of Christ, has been completed, then it will be taken up into heaven. After that, the Tribulation will begin. The Tribulation is the last seven years of the prophecy. The Tribulation is seven years in length.

The death of Christ occurred after the completion of the 483rd year of the prophecy. Jesus was crucified in A.D. 33. The prophecy then states that Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed. That happened in 70 A.D. which was 37 years after the death of Christ That is too long a period to be described as 7 years. Both the death of Christ and the destruction of the city and the temple happened after the 483rd year of the prophecy and before the beginning of the last seven years. In other words, the prophecy clearly shows that there is a period of time between the end of the 483 years and the beginning of the last seven years.

What lies between the first 483 years and the last 7 years of the 490 years is the church-age.

The events recorded for the last seven years are in the future. They have not as yet historically happened. The proof that the final seven years of the prophecy is still future is that Jesus definitely relates its main events to His second coming as recorded in Matthew 24:6,15. Between the first 483 years of the prophecy and the final 7 years, there is the entire church-age as set forth in the New Testament but not mentioned in the Old Testament. The church-age was kept hidden in Old Testament times, to keep Satan off guard.

There will be a seven year covenant made by the future prince (the 'little horn) of Dan. 7:8 with Israel. In the middle of the week (3 1/2 years), the covenant is broken and the prince, who is the beast, the antichrist, will begin to persecute the Jews. The sacrifices will be abolished at that time. This is recorded in Dan. 12:11. 'And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1290 days.' That is roughly 3 1/2 years. The mid point of the Tribulation. Also, the 42 months mentioned in Rev 11:2 and 13:5 cover the same time period of 3 1/2 years. And then there is the 'time, times, and half a time' which is 3 1/2 years and is found in Dan 7:25; Dan 12:7; and Rev 12:14.This goes back to what Jesus said in Matthew 24:15-22 concerning the abomination of desolation which was spoken of by Daniel. The abomination that causes desolation is the desecration of the temple when a statue of the beast or antichrist is placed in the temple to be worshiped as per 2 Thess 2:4 and Rev 13:14-15. That happens 3 1/2 years into the Tribulation and marks the beginning of the last half of the Tribulation which is called the great Tribulation.

The events of the Tribulation are still future. Amillennialists don't have a leg to stand on when trying to relate these events to the time period shortly following the death of Christ. As already stated, Jesus relates these events to the time of the Tribulation which follows the rapture of the church and precedes His second coming.

Readers, don't let people like the above poster confuse or discourage you. The Scriptures are perfectly clear that the church is to be raptured and that there will be a seven year period which precedes the second coming of Christ.

I want to ask this question...is it like Jesus' death, when satan thought that was the end of Him and a new beginning for himself,(as in,he didn't know he death of Jesus was the saving grace itself).
Or does satan KNOW he is going to be defeated with this antichrist and 7 yr covenant deal with Israel ? of course that begs the q...if he *knows he's going to be defeated...then why bother?? does he really think he can outdo God,or even stand a chance at it?
