The name sparrow has a lot of meaning for me. I've had this screenname for about 7 years or so in various forums over the years.

1. The main reason I chose this name has to do with something concerning a sparrow bird that took place just as my mother was dying back when I was a teen in '89. Something that happened that I remember clear as a bell to this day. It's personal and very special to me.
2. God notes the death of a sparrow. and I am glad. I'm glad that He cares about His creation enough to note the death of such a small, seemingly insignifcant little bird. How much more are WE wrapped in His caring arms, How much more does God note our deaths? How much more does God care for those He created in His image...? Knowing He cares about His creation, even the smallest among us makes me love Him that much more. Makes me love those around me that much more. Makes me see the value in EVERY life He has created.
3. sparrows are small, plain, humble looking little birds. They aren't loud (most of the time), they aren't brightly colored. They do nothing extraordinary.. they just ARE.
4. I am wild bird lover and sparrows are my favorite, always have been.
5. sparrows can fly... they are free.
6. Psalm 102:7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top. I can relate and often feel this way. Don't worry, I'm not sad. This is just who I am. I'm quite peaceful up there most of the time.
7. Lastly, sparrows are small but they have powerful beaks.

peace,
sparrow
I love the meaning of your name. God speaks to us in very special ways. To you a sparrow, to me a butterfly. God's love is very personal for each of us.

My screen name isn't really "after" anything in particular. I chose it because I need to keep a song in my heart to continue in my joy. Also, I'm a lover of poetry, which to me is like a song in one's heart.

Blessings!

I like your name, too, Heartsong!

That's beautiful! Not too long at all.

The sparrow may be plain looking, but I think it's song is one of the most cheerful, though I love to hear almost any bird chirp. It's hard to think end-of-the-world type thoughts when you are listening to a bird sing. I keep my window open every night, winter or summer, just for that reason. No matter what I've been dreaming (pretty horrible stuff, sometimes), the birds end up drowning out the darkness with their incessant chirping in the morning.

Never been to Savannah, but did St Augustine twice. What a beautiful place! And definitely historic...one of the oldest towns in the U.S. They say the oldest school house in the USA is there...
Now I want to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway...I love the mountains...

This is a very peaceful thread! It's great to learn a bit about everyone. It puts a "face" on names.
My name is in part in reference to the Master's call to "come up higher." it is also in reference to the "more excellent way," love.

Well come on over to my neck of the woods Bud and you can hop right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.....I'll even put you and your family up for free!!

The Parkway is just beautiful and so is the surrounding area. We're only about 45 min. from Asheville, NC and even less from Hendersonville, both of which are great places to visit and sight-see. Come on down!!

Thanks also Dale. I can't imagine what I would have been emotionally if I were to have gone through the losing of a premature child ...

God Bless to both.

I think Sparrow that you represent your screen name very well...in that you lovingly get your message across in a very quiet and non confrontational way but sometimes, when necessary, you do use your beak - and that is a good thing
