As people of faith do we not have an obligation to protect all of God's creatures?

They say that humans and the dolphins are two of the most intelligent creatures on this planet.
Much like us dolphins have self awareness.
Dolphins have been known to save human life, while humans are known for destroying them.
We poison their enviroment, they do not harm ours.
We capture them and put them in cement fish tanks for display, while they are more than willing to swim with us in the open sea.

It would seem that dolphins live out the Gospels better than us.

The brain of an adult bottlenose dolphin measures over 1,600 cc, versus the average adult human brain of about 1,450 cc. They have complex languages, social structures

DOLPHINS may be closer to humans than previously realised, with new research showing they communicate by whistling out their own “names”.
The evidence suggests dolphins share the human ability to recognise themselves and other members of the same species as individuals with separate identities. The research, on wild bottlenose dolphins, will lead to a reassessment of their intelligence and social complexity, raising MORAL questions over how they should be treated.

Ted,
I do care about these things. And it does make me sad to see how we humans have spoiled the earth with all our pollution. The damage just seems so overwhelming. I do hope that when the earth is completely renewed that God will restore all the animals that have suffered along with us in this period of subjection to mortality.

Peace -
Heartsong

Ohh, I love dolphins and have heard many stories about how they've saved humans at times. Yes...it would seem that they understand God better than us.

The pre-eminent sperm whale specialist, Dr. Hal Whitehead of Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, believes sperm whales may not only be self-aware, but may have developed their own moral code – even, through that sense of self-awareness, their own concept of religion."

I have avoided this thread.

The torture and slaughter of dolphins is beyond my ability to tolerate.

God bless the film makers that could endanger themselves by filming this horror.

If it was me, I'd have taken an M-16 instead of a camera.

Without discounting the sentiments expressed in this thread, isn't it a bit extreme to say the dolphins understand God better than humans? I mean, dolphins have also been known to fight one another and kill other species.

I highly suspect my words in this post will not be well received, but please don't misunderstand my sentiments, and don't presume I'm a heartless person who feels it's okay to harm dolphins or mistreat animals - because I'm not like that at all. However, when dolphins come up with technological advances to benefit their species...oh let's say, for example, by developing medicines or building hospitals to treat not only other dolphins, but other species as well...then perhaps we can talk about their intelligence, compassion, and ability to understand God better than humans.
