For example, based solely upon the plain text of scripture, apart from any doctrinal traditions of men, you know that only a man whom Jesus raised from the dead could lend the greatest degree of credibility as a reliable eye-witness that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. Only Lazarus of Bethany would have understood the significance of Jesus' face cloth folded together in a place by itself. Only Lazarus of Bethany could have known how to read this unveiled message between resurrected friends, hidden in plain sight.
Another example is Peter..."Verily, verily, I say unto thee; when thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. (John) 21:18...according to the doctrinal traditions of men, this is to be interpreted to mean that Peter was crucified. Now, if any of you have ever been in a nursing home, or an alzheimer's care facility, you would no doubt be witness to more than a few proud men who in their storied lives were big and strong...now reduced to the mercy of some tiny young women dressing them in clothes they don't want to wear, and taking them to places they don't want to go. Peter died simply of old age. How pontifically inglorious right?
Anyway, the list we gave barely scratches the traditionally treasonous surface. The Blessings of The Eternal bring you joy...
I know many want to cling to the verses that negatively refer to "the traditions of men" and will use the text to condemn ALL tradition.

As with most things, there are those who will go to extremes on either side of an issue.

No doubt, tradition alone can be empty, robotic and fruitless. That doesn't mean the tradition is the problem.

To follow a tradition as an excersise to help or remind the body and mind of what the Spirit knows can be a useful tool.

Afterall, even Saint Paul referred to the useful traditions given to the Thessalonians.

I'll let you search for the "plain text of the scripture"

The word "tradition" always puts me in mind of that song by the same name from 'Fiddler On the Roof' - a great movie, btw.

Hi Friend
we're speaking of interpretational viewpoints pertaining to the plain text of scripture, which from their inception distorted the truth of what the Spirit of God's written word plainly says. If you desire to follow some tradition, generalized or specific in terms of the human condition, that's your choice. However we urge you to follow The Holy Spirit as you are led, for you are a useful tool for the Lord. The Blessings of The Eternal bring you joy...

Brian, Brian, Brian...if you have found forgiveness in Christ Jesus now, then this will follow you after you have experienced the natural death of your body. The Blessings of The Eternal bring you joy...
