One of my OT faves:

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:18-19)

Who is us?

Israel.

Micah 6:2 Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

Secondly:

Micah 7:6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies [are] the men of his own house.

Luke 21 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death.

2 Titus 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Moderator cut: Orphaned I like the beautiful words and that Micah is so sure about this...

Not trying to prove a point here sciota... just love it for being a great standard for us to recognize the character of our creator...

Peace.

(another OT fave: Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.)

A great question from the OT:
Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever;

Answer: the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them--the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

Psalm 146:5-6

Micah 7:18 does apply to us, the gentile population, not just the Israelites. We have to remember, we under the New Covenant that Jesus Christ established, He declared that His house shall be a house of prayer for ALL nations (Mark 11:17). Paul goes ahead and clarifies that as well in Galatians 3:28 when he stated there is no longer Jew or gentile, all are one in Christ. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." We have to consider old testament adoption versus new testament adoption; Old testament equals circumsion and keeping the Mosaic Law; New Testament equals adoption through Christ, being saved by grace through faith, in which his sacrifice did away with the Law. So, all in Christ have been redeemed, restored to God and adopted. Romans 8:15-16 "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God." That's the key word right there in verse 15 "adoption" all Christ have been received by adoption and will receive salvation, inheritance, and God's eternal promises.

One of my favorites too....but it means only the repentant...the born again...the obedient.

The remnant...only those who choose Christ, and walked as He walked...in obedience to the Ten Commandments.

the remnant-who shall be permitted to survive the previous judgment: the elect remnant of grace

that remnant according to the election of grace which is spoken of in Rom. 11:7, which embraced the gospel of Christ..."What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded"

The election means the elect, and this term is applied to all believers. Here it is limited to that portion of the elect people, Israel, which had accepted Christ, and hence were an elect remnant.

"...who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations." Exodus 34:7.

He will not wait forever...when the Day arrives His anger will be no more...!...the new heavens and the new earth will not hold any sin....

"He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever." Psalm 103:9.

In Christ's love...prayerfully in His truth,
Verna.

Another great one: Lam. 3:23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

and:
Zephaniah 3:5 The LORD is righteous within her; He will do no injustice. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail. But the unjust knows no shame.

...for those yet to receive Him that haven't yet...He's faithfully waiting with open arms for those who will....for now...the day will come though when He will not strive with us any longer.

His justice is fair!...whether it be His acceptance or His wrath, it is just.
Yes...the unjust know no shame....very sad for them.

In Christ's love...prayerfully in His truth,
Verna.

Two more great verses:
Psalm 27:13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Psalm 51:1 When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.

Another one I have found that is enlightening....

Deut. 10:17-18 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.

Not the alien part .. LOL
