No truer words have ever been spoken. What our minds are, we are. When we meditate on what is lovely and pure, then we emanate that from our entire being. I have to admit I've been having trouble lately loving one particular individual and it has kept me up all night. What do we do when there is an evil person invading our purest of thoughts and causing harm? I have handled it poorly so far. I've got to let God do a good work in me so that I can show this person that love can blow away any hostile feelings and I WILL get there. I must smile, I must be congenial, and those pleasant things will turn the frown upside down and God's love will prevail! Just thought I'd have a little chat with myself for a moment.

I'm meditating on loving that *******!!!

I remember the first time (post Christ) that I got some REALLY bad feelings toward someone. I felt AWFUL (and hypocritical).

It didn't take long for the junk to go, it was just pure torment while it lasted though. We worked things out and have been friends again for 33 years.

That's wonderful!! I don't think we will ever be friends but the feelings that I have definitely have to go. You're right, I feel awful and hypocritical all at the same time. God will get me there.

That can be an extremely difficult thing to do. When someone is tormenting you and making your life a living hell the last thing that you want to do is treat them well. You have my sympathies. And a hug or two if you want.

But you have always been so kind and welcoming to me - and I always appreciate your wit and intelligence - so I figured I'd add my 2 cents. Personally, I think we have come such a long, long way! I think times are pretty gosh darn great right now - could they be better? Yes! Are things economically tough right now? Yes! BUT - I am the result of a mixed marriage - Japanese/Christain and White/Jewish. That couldn't have happened years and years ago. I would not have existed 200 years ago! I don't have an arranged marriage - I was able to pick my husband all by myself - and I love him so much! I'm not forced into a religion I don't believe in. I have free will - I can follow my own heart and my own mind. I will never get polio, the measles, the mumps, and a number of other diseases that we now have vaccines for. I have a toilet that flushes, clean water to drink, plenty of food to eat, and so many other things that make my life so much easier!
I'm surrounded by people who I love dearly. I'm lucky enough to LOVE my job (when I actually get hired to do it). I have the best dog in the whole world (sorry to all the other dogs out there - but it's true).
I'm happy that my friends turn to me when they are troubled - and I'm happy that I can usually help lift their spirits. I'm happy that my husband understands me and gives me so much emotional support. I'm happy that I have people that I can turn to. I'm happy that my mother is so wonderful - and that I will feel like I've acheived a great deal if I can be on tenth of the woman that she is.
In short - I'm pretty darn happy with this life that I am lucky enough to live. Is there trouble in the world? Yes. Does that upset me? Yes. Do I try to give money and time when I can? Yes. But all in all - I definitely see the glass as half full... well, actually - almost all the way full!

I agree with you that the world is a better place. There ARE still deadly and bad places on earth. Yes, there are bad people and evil ones, however, it is better. I am glad I do not live in the middle ages.

I'm certainly glad that my wife can vote and that my African American friends will not be strung up and me with them for liking them.

I also am glad my wiccan aquaintences will not be burned at the stake at the next church gathering.
